Stay at Some Amazing Five Star Resorts at an Affordable Price
Many times the cost of GETTING there is overcome by the cost of STAYING there
Luxury at an Affordable Price: It’s what we all dream of, right? And, of course, the word “AFFORDABLE” is different for everyone, and we all define it by our own budget and standard. But, moving on…
I lived in the United States for 64 years, and over those six plus decades, I had a few occasions to stay at really nice resorts. Sometimes it was a vacation, and sometimes it was a business meeting or event. But they were always pricey affairs! I own a timeshare in Maui, and that makes visiting Hawaii very affordable, but if I wanted to stay at a similar resort out there, it would break my budget...
But here's some good news: you can travel to many places in the world--and I'm specifically going to concentrate on Southeast Asia for this-- and you can stay at some of the most beautiful resorts you've ever seen, for a fraction of the price.
While in Vietnam, we toured three high-end resorts in the Da Nang area. Two of them we visited as part of a tour (but did not stay), and one we stayed in Hoi An, called Hoiana Beach Club. We had a spectacular room, very high tech, plus a great wrap around ocean view balcony in a five-star resort which would have cost normally about $1000 USD. The resort was huge, almost like a self-contained city, and offered half a dozen restaurants and an assortment of pools, including one that was available—for free—for day use. That required a two drink minimum, but the beach club, called “NOX,” was gorgeous! And if you like to gamble, the resort was part of a beautiful casino, so that brings in a lot of foreign gambling dollars. Hoiana owned four kilometers of waterfront sand, and it was as though you were on your own private island—but still attached to land, and just 30 minutes south of Da Nang.
Further south in Can Tho, Vietnam, we stayed at the Victoria Resort, and the nearby Azerai Resort. They were both special, but oh so different! The Azerai was on its’ own Island and required a five minute ferry ride to get to. We had a totally detached villa with no one around us and lots of privacy, plus an enormous pool to lounge around. There were lakes filled with lotus flowers and they offered free bike usage to tool around the small island. It truly was magical. Meanwhile, Victoria, just a 5-minute ride away, was more in town, so we could walk downtown (really cool) and other things, but the architecture and the design felt like a throwback to the 1930s, so that was very special. Both of these places were in the $200 USD per night range. But in the US (or many parts of the world), these would have been two to three times that.
In Indonesia, Bali, we stayed at the ARNA Suites Glamping resort which is normally about $200 per night and what a trip that was! Our room was a high quality tent with just a few solid walls, and open to the outside. The air flow was beautiful, and it felt rustic even though we had a five-star restaurant on site with an infinity pool, one side looking towards the ocean, and the other looked out towards the Blue Lagoon, which is one of the highlights of the Nusa Ceningan island. And our room? Everything we needed was right at our fingertips. The message is, this resort is truly unique and special, but would cost many times that in most parts of the world. If you could even find such a place!!
Meanwhile, we just left a similar resort in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and this one was truly in a class by itself.
It's called Shinta Mani, and we stayed in one of 10 pool villas with our own butler. The unit had the softest and most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in, plus an outdoor shower and an outdoor tub filled with lotus blossoms when we arrived! We also enjoyed a high quality culinary feast courtesy of a world famous chef who uses ingredients from within a 25 km away. The 115 room resort has standard, deluxe, and special pool villas designed by a world class designer, Bill Bensley, and is part of a Foundation which employs locals as interns, trains them, and teaches them the hospitality industry. It was nice knowing that in addition to having an awesome room, we were helping the local community. In full disclosure, THAT room was over $500, but was gifted to us, but their deluxe rooms, which were really nice, were in that similar $200 night range. How much would that cost in the US? Probably over a grand.
I don't share this to brag but to let you know that you can live large in many parts of the world. Many times the cost of getting there is easily outweighed by the cost of staying there.
As a Travel Younger founder these are the things you get:
The eBook of “Nomadic Life for All Ages,”
and my most recent addition on northern Greece, called, “The History and Magic of Northern Greece.”
Nomadic Life shares our story from Day One, as we prepared to leave the US after six decades of living there, sell everything, and say goodbye to friends and family. The departure involves so much more than just getting on a plane, and the emotional, mental, spiritual, and financial aspects are all covered. The book offers tips and hints, and guidance on how to travel within Europe, deal with the nefarious “Schengen Zone,” along with lots of shortcuts and time savers. We spent time on six continents, so except for the Poles, we have you covered!
For anyone who likes Greece, or would like to know more about the “less visited” areas, this book covers our 31 day, 15 city motorcycle journey we took in the summer of 2022. This is in full color, so you can see some of the amazing and historical places we visited.
Over the past few years I have also written several other books and you will get a free copy of two of them!
One is called “COVIDstories,” and it shares the journey of 19 people who benefited from that once in a lifetime pandemic. Even though COVID virtually shut down the globe, almost destroyed the world of travel, and did personal damage to so many, the unfortunate event actually helped some people adapt, grow, and change for the better. I am one of the 19.
Book number two is a fantasy fiction book called “The World Series of Oz,” and that story was inspired by a dream that woke me and I turned into a novella. If you are a fan of The Wizard of Oz, baseball, or both, I think you’ll enjoy it. If that doesn’t interest you, I also offer a more sci-fi type novella called “Alien Gifts,” about a young man, Sammy, who is given three different superpowers over three years, from his former best friend. Who happens to be an alien. That story came out a conversation I had with Kat about, “What super powers would you like the most?” and you can get a copy of that one instead. Here’s some more details.
Would you like to know HOW to Manifest Your Travel Dreams?
Then you can join me in my one hour webinar with that title as I walk through some of the processes involved when contemplating a nomadic lifestyle. This webinar was first presented in 2019, but SOOO much has changed and it is now fully updated.
Going somewhere?
How about… a 10 day small yacht cruise off the coast of Croatia, leaving from Split, going south to Dubrovnik? Or maybe a motorcycle tour of some of the most magnificent countries I have ridden: Romania? Vietnam? Ecuador? I have traveled all three, but Sri Lanka is coming up in December, and Nepal is available through close connections. Maybe you’d like some adventure on a 10 day safari along the plains of Tanzania?
What’s your fantasy trip??
These tours will be offered to you at seriously great prices, and will be limited to small groups of 10 or less.
